The Benefits and Costs of Climate Stabilization
Dr. Kristen Sheeran is the executive director of Economics for Equity and the Environment Network (E3). E3 is a national network of economists developing new arguments for environmental protection based on a commitment to social justice.

Dr Sheeran talks about the objectives of climate policy and the fact that climate science is changing faster than economists or policy makers are. Most current polcy is about limiting CO2 emissions to 450ppm, while scientists are now saying 350ppm is essential.
Most economist think such a big change is not possible.
Howere with quite different assumptions ecomonic models show that the target of 350ppm could be achieved for a cost of about 2% or 3% of global output.
The question is therefore is 3% of global output a big cost or a small one? We have to decide.
It seems that the cost of doing nothing will create a very big cost. Game over.
The bad news is that we are doing nothing. The good news is that doing something remarkable is possible.
