A personal review after one year
Name: John Stephen Veitch
Date: 25 February, 2010
It's just a year since I wrote this essay. In that time the debate on global warming has become a battle. I've invested considerable energy trying to get on top of that debate and it's importance to our everyday decision making. I've re-read the book "The Necessary Revolution" by Peter Senge. That's been inspirational for me.
I've continued to develop a very strong online network, with over 8200 connections on LinkedIn, an very strong group in Kiwi Scrum (1600+), and strong presence on Ryze and other related groups.
Regarding personal assets, I've worked hard to reduce the mortgage on our house. We've also done some home maintenance.
In terms of personal fitness, energy, motivation and health, I'm pleased. I cycle 20km regularly, go dancing twice a week, I've put a lot of energy into helping Ryze Newbies, and a small eye operation went very well.
As a leader, I'm growing in confidence. Many of the ideas I'm proposing were not front of mind when I opened Open Future, two years ago. But the authenticity of my experience, and my ability to understand it, is proving it's worth. (The value of a journal.) The focus of this web site, is on the direction individuals, businesses and societies MUST take if they are to have an Open Future. I'm disappointed that I can't offer specific and strong directions about what you, or your business should do. None of us are that wise. The point is, to make a start. I thank Peter Senge, for that insight.
