Hey John

Great to see you out there connecting us connectors ;-) Kiwis have been a regular part of my life since a young age, including having cousins on both sides of my family in Auckland and further afield. Recently we hosted External LinkStacey Jones here at Chateau La Tour Apollinaire for the launch of the External LinkCatalan Dragons rugby league team - a lovely gent (we sponsored the Dragons in their first year).

I'm South African by origin (Durban, Jhbg and CT), and also spent several years in Toronto, and 20 in London before heading down to the south of France in 2003. Check out External Linkwww.renaissance2.eu for more details.

Warm regards
Robin

General Thanks

John,

Thanks for the Linkedin connection. I really never used LinkedIn until I became unemployed at the end of Feb, 2010. However, I took a chance and joined at that time and did nothing with it. But last month about the second week of May I started add connections (figured out that the secret is the Linkedin Groups) which really helped me get my connections. I agree with you... the internet gave a level field for all countries to play in. Business wise, linkedin has allowed me to get to recruiters of companies rather than through their websites. Interesting how social networks work!

Regards,
Robert

Hello John,

Thanks for your invitation in LinkedIn.  Usually I am not very active in the net.  Real world connections are stronger, I believe... but I learnt something out of your webpages how to handle the internet-community ;-)

The title OPEN FUTURE fits very well to External LinkFOURYEARS.GO where we met on the call.

Your website tells me I can ask you a personal question:
How can I find people to build with them more bridges between people through better foreign language skills?  I want to make more effective techniques for language learning available to people.  ie. Chinese people hardly ever use the eyes or the body for learning. Only their ears.

Take care
Anna

Hello Anna
Like many older people with English as a first language, I have no multi-lingual skills.  I understand that tools like External LinkWhitesmoke and External LinkWord Web Pro are used by many people.

Street Groups

Fascinating John. I found you through the Transition Towns Ning site. Ten years ago I started an email group for my suburb in Wellington, but those were the days before social networking. It was great, we met physically as well as sent out requests and offers to the suburb. Two of us ran it really, I have no idea what happened after we left there.
