In most companies it will be necessary to start with mentoring and training for the CEO, senior executives and members of the Board of Directors.

Company wide learning

Companies are afraid to embrace the Internet. This is an understandable strategic error. The internet is the source of knowledge, understanding and innovation that is the future of every company. Don't ignore it.

Communities of practice

The key to learning more efficiently online is to choose your company. Communities of practice are forums where like minded people meet to pursue their interests.

Social network access

Most people, despite their denial, are Internet reluctant. Internet access is a contentious issue in most boardrooms. Needlessly so, it's a red herring. The real issues are trust, control and responsibility.

Enterprise Collaboration

This is an area of great promise which so far has produced only small dividends. It requires TRUST and a willingness to share and to reach across the communication divide, that few people have developed. We still live and work in silos, even inside the company.

User resistance

Being active online demands a level of self confidence and self disclosure that 90% of your staff don't want. User success rates on all the very popular online social networks are incredibly low. 2% on business networks like LinkedIn, 5% on slightly more social networks like Ryze, and maybe 10% on family and friends places like Facebook. Lot's of people "hate the Internet". Even people who pay to have broadband in their homes fail to use the Internet very much. Almost everyone remains an Internet newbie.
